Fashion news that caught my eye

Hey Girls,

Fashion and The Boston Symphony unite.  The Boston Symphony Orchestra will present Project Debussy, a unique fashion contest featuring fashion inspired by the music of Claude Debussy, scheduled in conjunction with upcoming BSO concerts featuring Debussy’s La Mer, on February 2 at Symphony Hall. The Project Debussy contest will feature evening wear designs by eleven talented fashion students affiliated with schools throughout the greater Boston area. Symphony Hall doors will open at 7 p.m. on February 2, allowing patrons to view and vote on the dresses, presented by models chosen by the designers, and enjoy the festive Symphony Hall atmosphere before taking their seats for the 8 p.m. concert. The winner of Project Debussy will be announced at a special post-concert fashion event and reception in Higginson Hall, following the performance. Fashion fans around the world will also be able to vote for a “people’s choice” award at www.facebook.com/bostonsymphony or www.twitter.com/bostonsymphony, by entering the favored entry, along with the phrase #projectdeb and check out the designs here https://www.box.com/s/hq2e6s5lo2y8o29mxy7p  and stop by www.bso.org for more on the upcoming BSO concerts.

This article from India's First Post caught my eye. Should parents call their daughters pretty...why not also tell them they are smart and capable and be there to help to supply them with opportunities:

Sisters Phoebe and Annette Stephens launched jewellery label Anndra Neen in 2009 and share mementos of their successful journey here via Vogue.com: http://www.vogue.co.uk/news/2012/01/17/anndra-neen-interview---americas-next-top-model

Have you caught a segment of Remodeled on the CW?  Paul Fisher makes over modeling agencies? It might give you insight into the scams to look for and the difference between a legit agency and a BS one and also what goes on at an agency and the business side of modeling as well. I haven't caught a segment but I'll try to tune in and give some insight. On the site it reads: (Paul Fisher) He has two missions: to make sure agents in small towns no longer get screwed, and to empower models to take control of their careers and lead healthier lives.

I do like that mission and for the second part about empowering models this could be interesting and a different type of here we go again another modeling show...I dig the inspiring take no shit type of attitude and on this blog I always promote to manage your own career and be prepared for your success and at the end of the day YOU are your own Agent!  Check out the show here:

Psst. I'm not a fan of modeling schools and the word just makes me gag.  The upcoming show on Jan 24th features if the agency is a modeling agency or school.
