Favorite Little Thing: Stiletto cactus planter
This is awesome. I noticed Giddyspinster on Etsy recently ( I Love Etsy.com don't you?). This is the description of the Stiletto cactus planter and an interview with the artist Rachel Mahlke and what inspires her work and designs. This is what Rachel's page says:
This is a size 7 black stiletto, upcycled of course into a new life. I removed the top of the shoe, sanded it, drilled holes for drainage, and then planted it with a pink-spined ferocious cactus called ferocactus. The cactus plant will need very bright light and just a little water from time to time. In return, it'll repay you with a stark reminder of how hard it is to...well, to be a woman.
Sustainability: I use only natural and organic fertilizers and soil. most of my plants are from a local Berkeley grower who is 100% certified organic.
I love products made and carved with love and creativity and funk, that's why the Stiletto cactus planter is one of my favorite little things,
