Shorter girls can work within beauty modeling

A girl on facebook wrote me and said, "i'm 19 and 5'2. i get told a lot i have a unique face and should try modeling. i moved to ny not too long ago [for other reasons] and i really dont even know where to begin?"

My reply might inspire your own pursuits:

Hi, Well remember modeling is about putting your assets forward. So for you, put forward your face...focus on getting natural beauty shots and shots showing your personality and smile :) I would strive to work with a professional photographer someone who understands print modeling and shoots great headshots. I do suggest investing in a good beauty and headshot and working always w a professional... print modeling is about using your personality to model products for their ad and marketing campaigns so focus on what you have...don't dwell on height bring forward in your photos the real you -and with a compcard market yourself to print agencies. Let me know if you need any more tips on print modeling -photography and print agencies, ~height is not everything :) Remember beauty modeling is about everything from cosmetics, skincare, haircare, jewelry, accessories, contact lenses, anything that involves that close up of the models face. So study ads and also put some expression into the shots, show your smile and personality. Look in to Allure magazine, Marie Claire, and Glamour magazine. ~isobella
